Gruu Dunrik was a Jedi Knight during the final stages of the Old Republic. As a young boy, Dunrik was selected to train at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. However, the Jedi Purge was initiated by Emperor Palpatine before Gruu could be selected as a Padawan by a master. Luckily however, Gruu was able to escape Emperor Palpatine and his forces to go on to serve in the Rebellion and battle against the Empire.

While Gruu occupied a Rebel base on Aargonar 3, Gruu met many young Rebel agents who Gruu felt were sensitive to the Force. Using what he knew, Gruu taught these young hopefuls what he could of the Force, hoping that one day they might help return the Jedi Knights as guardians of peace and justice throughout the galaxy.
